No — guest shortening is available on the homepage. Creating an account gives you a dashboard, link history, analytics, and API access.
Yes. When shortening a link, expand "Advanced options" and enter your desired alias (3–32 characters, letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores).
Every click on your short link is logged with timestamp, device type, browser, and OS. View trends in your dashboard under Analytics.
Share your unique referral code. When someone signs up through your link, you earn a commission tracked in your affiliate dashboard.
Yes. Generate API keys in Settings and use them with Bearer authentication on POST /api/shorten.php for programmatic link creation.
Yes. Set an optional password in advanced options. Visitors must enter the password before being redirected.

Yes. ShortMy is open for self-hosting on your own server. The pricing page shows optional tiers for hosted plans.
The first registered user automatically receives admin privileges. Admins can manage users, links, payouts, and site settings.
